Devising Money Making Ideas for Kids

Devising money making ideas for kids beyond the lemonade stand might take a little forethought and creativity, but you and your kids can set up a project that will teach them to enjoy the process of making money. After all, money is nice but enjoying what we do in order to get it is even better. Kids often have a truly entrepreneurial spirit when there is something that they really want, can't live without, and simply have to have. It is amazing how many kids alter their needs once they get into the business of making their own money and finding that it isn't as simple as going to the bank.

The first and foremost important factor when devising money making ideas for kids is to make sure that it is safe and well supervised. We have long passed the days when door to door and even roadside stands offer any element of personal safety for young kids. It is unfortunate that even in the best neighborhoods, you have to make sure you are present, on top of who is approaching your children and whom they are approaching, and completely engaged in their activity at the cost of your own sometimes. But safety is absolutely the highest priority.

Creative concepts that blend something that they not only like to do but are good at is the second priority. Do they like to bake? Many Farmer's Markets offer small table for very little money for kids to offer their baked goods or other appropriate items. Craft shows also give kids an interesting venue for a small fee. Can they perform a service like dog washing or weed pulling? Some kids really get into pulling weeds for a quick buck and it is definitely worth it to watch your child excel at hard sweaty work.

Some of the best ideas come from kids themselves. When they really want something, they will often offer up their toys and belongings for a money back exchange in order to get what they want. Sometimes just asking your kids what they believe they can do to raise some extra funds leads to a really great and occasionally modified idea. Let your kids participate in everything from the planning and development stages to the execution stage. Kids can be highly crafty and creative, especially when that new video game system or the dance or kickboxing lessons that they are craving so badly is at stake. Brainstorming with kids also helps them understand that they are not limited and that if their first endeavor should not yield the appropriate amount of income, they have additional choices. Creating awesome money making ideas for kids is just another part of teaching financial responsibility.
